Our five-day, DIY tour to live and breathe recently released Netflix film La Dolce Villa is an opportunity to visit some of Italy’s most beautiful locations, namely Tuscany, eastern Lazio and Rome. Expect to enjoy a journey as satisfying as al dente linguini, with a side serve of romance and pinch of humour.
Day 1: Arrive in Florence–Explore Tuscany

Why Visit
Your Italian adventure starts in Florence, the gateway to Tuscany. Although it is not featured in La Dolce Villa, this city is part of the magical landscapes from which the film took its inspiration. Florence is one of the greatest cultural centers in the world, with its trove of Renaissance art and architecture. Take an evening walk across the Ponte Vecchio, where you can pretend to be buying expensive tiaras (or just window-shopping). The Uffizi Gallery provides an eyes-wide-open buffet: Botticelli and Michelangelo, so to speak, for those Instagram snapshots that scream “I’m cultured.”

Devour sights of the series of panoramic views from Piazzale Michelangelo, especially during sunset when the city takes on a golden dream figure. There is plenty of material for your photo album when capturing the finer details of Florence Cathedral (Il Duomo).

Day 2: The Tuscan Countryside – La Dolce Villa Filming Locations
Why Visit
On day two, venture into the heart of Tuscany to visit some filming locations from La Dolce Villa. The film captures the essence of rustic Italian life, and there’s no better way to experience this than by visiting an actual villa. One such location is Villa Medicea di Lilliano, where scenes were shot that showcase the idyllic countryside and opulent lifestyle.
As you wander through vineyards and olive groves, you’ll understand why Eric (played by Scott Foley) is drawn into this world of beauty and romance while trying to rein in his daydreaming daughter Olivia.

Day 3: Eastern Lazio – The Charm of Civita di Bagnoregio
Why Visit
Day three: Travel due east into Lazio, and visit Civita di Bagnoregio, sometimes known as “the dying town” because of its crumbling cliffs. Many scenes in La Dolce Villa were inspired by this quaint village and its surroundings. Its medieval mysteries embody the romantic magic that enchants Eric while he witnesses his daughter’s dreams come true across stunning landscapes.
As you traverse the pedestrian bridge into Civita, it seems you’ve entered another era — one in which time slows down and every corner provides a slice of history.

Day 4: Rome – The Eternal Spending Spree City
Why Visit
Day four sees you plunging into the ardent chaos of Rome, where the essence of La Dolce Villa awakens. A city for the senses, this is a location of history, art and the mouthwatering, pungent smells of Italian dishes in the air. As Eric aims to stop his daughter from draining her piggy bank on a crumbling villa, you’ll find that Rome has its deft ways of getting visitors to spend — be it on gelato, or that tempting pair of shoes.
Begin your exploration at Parco degli Acquedotti, where the film’s striking prologue takes place as a helicopter transports a statue of Jesus over ancient ruins. But this park is more than just a movie location; it’s a small part of Roman history that provides a serene escape from the city. Then head for Baths of Caracalla, where you can practically hear the echoes of laughter and revelry from the parties shown in the film.
At night, make your way to the famous Trevi Fountain. Yes, it’s touristy, but throwing a coin into its waters is a rite of passage — just don’t forget to make a wish.
Photographic Opportunities
Capture candid moments at Parco degli Acquedotti, especially with the aqueducts framing your shots. The Baths of Caracalla provide dramatic backdrops for striking architectural photography. And of course, the Trevi Fountain at night is an Instagram classic—just try to avoid getting splashed.

Day 5: Another Take on Rome for Luxury
Why Visit

Start your day at St. Peter’s Basilica, climbing the dome for stunning views over Vatican City — it’s a scene familiar from Marcello’s exploits as he navigates life’s complications.
Discover lesser-known marvels like the Palazzo Doria Pamphilj, a fabulous art gallery located in a gorgeous palace that usually gets overshadowed by more famous tourist attractions. The immensity of this place will put you in the mind of being an aristocrat yourself. Afterward, wander through Giardino degli Aranci (Gardens of Oranges), where they, too, will revel in sweeping views over Rome, contemplating life’s little mysteries — maybe even your villa fantasies.
Evening in Rome calls for a formal dinner at one of the city’s finer restaurants that are known for culinary perfection.
